DIT supports individuals and organisations with outstanding inventions on their journey to becoming scalable enterprises. Alongside specific transformation support, DIT stands for fostering a new culture of scaling, creating fresh momentum for Bavaria starting from Oberschneiding and Kemnath. In addition to Campus Oberschneiding, Campus Kemnath serves as the second acceleration and scaling campus of Deggendorf Institute of Technology.
Together with the expert team at Campus Oberschneiding, Campus Kemnath aims to increase the number of scalable start-ups in Bavaria through its activities.
Oberschneiding and Kemnath support teams with exceptional, application-oriented research results and those with products at a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage, guiding them on their journey to becoming growth-oriented and sustainably successful enterprises.
Our approach to transformation is inspired by the Silicon Valley mindset, focusing on rapid market penetration.
The successful work of Campus Oberschneiding has already received several international accolades: in the "Entrepreneurial Spirit" category of the WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation), Deggendorf Institute of Technology ranked 1st in 2023 (2nd in 2022, 5th in 2021, and 8th in 2020). Additionally, the founder and scientific director of Campus Oberschneiding, Prof. Peter Schmieder, was honoured as the "Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year" by ACEEU (Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities) in June 2022.
Campus Oberschneiding traces its roots back to a partnership with Santa Clara University in California, USA, established in 2009, and the Silicon Valley Program launched in 2014.
Campus Oberschneiding supports teams with outstanding, application-oriented research results and teams with products at minimum viable product (MVP) status in their transformation into high-growth and sustainably successful companies. The understanding of transformation is based on the Silicon Valley mindset and aims at rapid market penetration. The focus of BITZ Oberschneiding is on entrepreneurship.
Building on the diverse support services for business start-ups available at OTH Amberg-Weiden - such as the Digital Founder Initiative Upper Palatinate (DGO) and the Eastern Bavaria Founder Hub (O/HUB)—which provide awareness, information, advice, and coaching for entrepreneurship as well as educational programmes and approximately 1,100 square metres of start-up spaces in Amberg and Weiden, the university has further developed its concept.
In addition to the Bavarian Innovation Transformation Centre (BITZ) in Kemnath, the StartUp Incubator Kemnath is being developed as an ideal complementary addition to the location.
This concept of the Eastern Bavarian Technical University (OTH) Amberg-Weiden includes the following components:
The focus areas of both universities excellently complement each other in terms of start-up support, ensuring a broad range of potential synergies. Through this cooperation, bilateral synergies are achieved in research, development, and knowledge transfer for start-ups, in collaboration with the town of Kemnath and the district of Tirschenreuth. This collaboration is focused on the promotion, development, and scaling of local start-ups.
