As a future professor with a sound theoretical knowledge and proven practical expertise, you will cover the following areas of teaching and research at the Faculty of Computer Science:
• Foundations of computer science, programming and algorithms and data structures
• Artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning

We expect active involvement knowledge and technology transfer and in administering academic affairs.

your profile

The ideal candidate has a relevant university degree in computer science or a related field.

Knowledge of at least one aspect of artificial intelligence, ideally in one of the following areas, is also desirable:
• Privacy by default training methods
• Trustworthy artificial intelligence
• Hardware for accelerated training
• Embedded artificial intelligence and FPGAs
• Artificial intelligence in business information systems

The candidate must be qualified and willing to teach courses in modern teaching formats (e.g. blended learning) and in both German and English.

 

General requirements

• Completed university education
• Exceptional research skills, usually demonstrated by a doctoral qualification
• Pedagogical aptitude
• Outstanding accomplishments in the development or implementation of research throughout at least five years
professional experience. This must have been acquired after the completion of academic studies with at least three of the five years outside the higher education sector. In some cases, proof of non-academic professional work may be acceptable when a significant part of this work involved the cooperation between the higher education sector and a non-academic body over a minimum period of five years.

The standard teaching requirement for professors at universities of applied sciences is 18 teaching units per week per semester (full-time).

The position is suitable for severely disabled persons. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if they essentially have equal qualifications, competence and professional performance.

Focus on research

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology is one of the most dynamic and ambitious Universities of Applied Sciences in Southern Germany renowned for excellence in research. R&D projects are always rooted in real-life cases, as research staff collaborate with regional and international companies from the private sector to develop innovative solutions for immediate application, mainly funded by national government and EU grants.

For example, between January and April 2023, 27 applications for research funds were approved by the local government, supplying our professors and scientists with the financial backing to work on R&D projects. To further support these projects, professors are granted teaching-free semesters to focus on research work.
